Good Shepherd's Chapel, Abbotsford Victoria
23rd September 2023 A.D. @ 7pm
It began with bells and incense. The Chruch bells rang out across Abbotsford as Father Matthew prepared and sensed the icons and altar.
The clergy entered, dressed in their blue vestments.
The Reading was from St Matthew. It spoke of the servants who were given talents. Two of them used the talents to get more talents but the guy that was given one talent hid it. Because he didn’t use it, it was taken away and given to the more profitable one.
Metropolitan Raffaele then gave his homily. He spoke about sharing our god given gifts with others, the important role of Mary and her parents. He then exclaimed the importance of the Exultation of the Holy Cross and the Gift of life.
The gifts were brought to the altar and the creed was proclaimed. Then the gifts were honored and blessed and shared by the clergy before communion was taken by everyone. I got to hold the bread.
Then we got to venerate the relic of the True Cross and were anointed by Metropolitan Raffaele. And we had a beautiful feast out the back afterwards.
