Theophany

Updated: Jan 23

Saturday 20th January 2024 A.D.

7pm at Good Shepherd Chapel, Abbotsford Victoria

The Theophany which derives from Theological Greek is the feast where God reveals himself as the Holy Trinity at the river Jordan by Jesus who sanctifies those waters via his presence, the Holy Spirit who rests on him in the form of a dove for such creatures do not rest on anything polluted - showing Jesus to be the immaculate Lamb of God, and the Father's voice who acclaims him as his beloved Son to whom all should listen to his commands.

Thus the evening commenced via the call of prayer intoned by the Convent bells which rang across Abbotsford.

The waters were sanctified by the Metropolitan with the assistance of the arch presbyter Matthew to recall this sublime event - the means of blessing for all. It was at this point that the faithful began filling their bottles with holy water so that they could extend such a wonderful blessing onto their homes and loved ones.

The people of Holy Apostles then celebrated the Eucharist- the Divine Liturgy around their bishop as was in formative times - the entering into a deep communion with the Lord and his saints through the reception of his word and nourishment of his presence in the Mystery of Mysteries- the Holy Eucharist.

Afterwards, the community enjoyed the agape meal of thanksgiving in the welcoming room whilst admiring the Convent grounds on a warm summers eve made cool with a pleasant breeze.

Glory to God for all things!
