WHERE

WE
GATHER

It has been a test in time that the Orthodox Churches who follow the Elder Traditions within the diaspora do not own church buildings – these are owned by committees, trustees and private incorporations (fraternities) however uncanonical (unlawful) Yet this is what happens when such (administration) is left in the care of a few priests who are appointed by the committees (the acting BISHOPS in suit and tie) to oversee them (a cut for all who tow the line) all on behalf of bishops oversees (any CEO’S worst nightmare)!

Hence, when bishops are appointed, all sorts of excuses come to surface and the reality is that such (me as rightful bishop) are not welcome in our own churches amongst our own people because it’s bad for the business flow that has existed from day one. Thus, as it is custom, and I have made mandatory in this Holy Exarchate, each cleric has a chapel (St. Basils, St. Mark and St. Herman’s’, St Eleutherius, and Holy Protection) where the services are offered. Thus, the whole Church (we) comes together on feast days at a particular venue (due to the unlawful situation) – however undesirable this becomes, it is rather problematic regarding the limitation of candle and incense usage which falls in the category of hazards along with time and noise restrictions!

Thus, we have been Blessed that the Sisters and Community of Good Shepherd have granted us the kindness to gather for prayer and service in their wonderful convent chapel (1 St Heliers St) in Abbotsford for the present. Therefore, all major events of the Church calendar are celebrated within their chapel in modern English in the evenings due to everyone’s work schedule. All are welcome regardless in joining us (consult the events timetable schedule) for the Ancient Rites of Holy Mother Church!

Hence, a week had passed after all these events and Thomas was gathered with his brothers locked in the upper room for they were in hiding for fear of the presbyteral college. They beheld the presence of their Lord amongst them who greeted them saying: “Peace be upon you!” Jesus then addressed Thomas saying: “Reach out with your fingers and examine my wounds – have no further doubt but believe!” At this Thomas exclaimed: “My Lord and my God!” Jesus then replied: “You say this because you have seen and examined me….Blessed are those who do not see me but in faith believe in my Name!”        (Jn 20: 26-29)
